What We Believe

These statements summarize our core beliefs. Scroll further down the page for a more comprehensive statement of beliefs.

We believe the Bible is the inspired, authoritative, living, absolutely infallible eternally-reliable Word of God.

We believe in one God who has revealed Himself in three eternally existent and co-equal persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ and His incarnation, virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, substitutionary and atoning death, bodily resurrection, bodily ascension into heaven, exaltation, present rule at the right hand of God, coming, personal return in power and great glory and in His everlasting Kingdom and dominion. Who is Jesus? >

We believe that the redemption and salvation of lost and sinful people is only through the shed blood of Christ and by grace through faith in Him, not of any work or merit in man, and that repentance from sin and regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, His present ministry, His indwelling, His empowering, His impartation of gifts for today and His transforming power in the lives of all believers.

We believe that the local, global, and historical Church (the people of God) is God’s instrument for revealing His purpose and for distributing His glory on the earth.

More about our beliefs

We at Antioch Fullerton together affirm the Core Doctrines of the Bible as summarized below.

Creeds

We at Antioch Fullerton celebrate our unity with all Christians around the world in affirming the teachings of the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed:

Our Relational Values

Jesus’ life and ministry was marked by how He loved, honored, and placed value on every person He interacted with. Jesus taught us to live the same way by giving us the greatest commandments: to love God and love our neighbor. These five relational values are a biblically rooted framework from the life of Jesus that guide how we are to love, honor, and relate to one another at Antioch Fullerton.

Rooted in Christ

Jesus structured his relationships and ministry to flow from connection with the Father. We prioritize rhythms of vertical connection with God that result in horizontal fruitfulness in our relationships.

See John 15:4-5, John 5:19-20, Mark 12:30-31, Mark 1:29-39, Psalm 1:1-3, Matt 6:33, 2 Cor 5:14-18

Empowering Humility

Jesus embraced humility by laying down His life to elevate others, serving sacrificially, and patiently apprenticing and empowering those around him. In the same way, we embrace the way of Jesus by giving ourselves so that others may find life.

See Philippians 2:5-8, Mark 10:45, Galatians 5:13, John 15:12-13, Colossians 3:12, Ephesians 4:2, 1 John 3:16, John 10:11, John 3:16, 1 Peter 4:10

Radical Compassion

Jesus’ compassion was demonstrated through sacrificial care for the hurting, broken, and outsider. Like Jesus, we seek to meet people in their place of need and practice hospitality with hearts of compassion and restorative action.

See Mark 1:41-42, Matt 9:36-38, 1 John 3:17, Matt 14:14, Luke 7:13, Ps 145:8-9, Prov 14:31

Genuine Relationships

Jesus’ relationships were marked by honesty, vulnerability, and accountability. We aspire to be authentic and gracious with those inside and outside the church, and to speak truth in love for the purpose of restoration and unity. In doing so, we demonstrate our unwavering commitment to one another.

See Matt. 18:15-17; Acts 2:42-47; Rom. 15:5-7; Eph. 4:15; Eph. 4:25; Gal 6:1; Col. 3:12-15; Prov 27:5-6; Prov 27:17

Ministering Together

Jesus showed that we are better working together, which is modeled first in the Trinity and then through His intentional discipling, ministering, and deploying in team.  We follow His example by honoring the gifts in others, developing and empowering others around us, and embracing our limitations.

See Mark 3:13-19; Matt 10:1; Mark 6:7; Acts 13:1-3; Acts 16; Eph 4:11-13; Rom 12:3-8; 1 Cor 12:12-31
