
Fasting Practicals
Preparation
Decide ahead of time what you are fasting and for how long. Set beginning and ending times.
Plan ahead – make time in your day to spend with God. Consider using your regular meal times to be with God.
Write down ahead of time specific things you are believing for in prayer.
Prepare to walk by faith, not feelings. Mood swings and irritability is normal.
Expect God to move in mighty ways in your life and in the lives of those you are praying for!
During the Fast
Worship God throughout the day to “feed” your spirit.
Take time to read Scripture throughout the fast. Feast on the Bread of Life!
Start slow if you’re new to fasting, consider sticking to light foods or liquids only (i.e. fruits & vegetables, or juice).
Drink plenty of water and stay away from caffeine if you are fasting from food.
Get more rest than usual.
Ending the Fast
Break the fast gradually and gently with a small amount of healthy, light food.
Consider breaking the fast with your community and sharing what God did in you during the fast.
